It's beginning to look OFFicial!!

September has been the beginning of things really starting to seem REAL.....I think sometimes, "am I really moving to Maui soon?????" Sometimes, it felt so far away still because we couldn't pick a date until all of the doggie stuff was official.  I'll give you a little background on how "challenging" it has been to get the dogs there.  Maui has a ton of crazy rules, regulations & paperwork on allowing dogs to enter.  There is a 5 (YES FIVE) page checklist that we have to complete!! They had to receive rabies vaccines, then wait exactly 21 days before having their blood work drawn.  So...the tick tock tick tock began after we started the process back in July.  After their 21 day waiting period,  we had their blood work drawn and it took about a month before we would get results to see if then even passed!! SO...we waited and waited!! Finally, the day after I got to Missouri for a visit, the vet called and said "THEY PASSED...you're going to Maui!!!!" But.....we still couldn't book anything until the state of Hawaii received their passing paperwork and then they would post our "arrival date" on their state government webpage.  You MUST wait 120 days after the date the lab receives their blood sample before you're even allowed to arrive in Maui. So....we waited and waited again.  FINALLY.....we checked the Hawaii web page and their they were --- ARRIVAL DATE December 14th!!!!

(they are the first two on there!!)

So, we have a lot more paperwork to complete and mail in everything to the state of Hawaii and then we have to wait for our "Island Permission Pass" in order for the airlines to allow them on the plane to fly to Maui.  This then took us to our next "patience testing" task on getting these dogs to Maui -- BOOKING our flights!! Mind you....a handful of airlines allow dogs to fly to the Hawaiin islands because of Hawaii's quarantine laws and crazy rules they have.  SO, after lots of time on the phone with people that hardly speak english -- we narrowed it down that only UNITED would fly the dogs straight into Maui.  BUT...we weren't done yet ---- we have to leave from somewhere warm because otherwise if it's too cold outside the day of departure, the dogs won't be allowed to go....so we narrowed down Cali & AZ because its pretty warm there and shorter flights for the dogs.  Eric was on the phone for like 2 days talking with multiple people trying to book us some reasonable flights!! (winter time is the most expensive time to go to Maui!!) He would find one great flight and we would be ready to book, but "oh, we're sorry that is operated by US Airways and they don't allow dogs to Maui"  or  "sorry only 1 dog can fly on this flight"or "sorry, dogs not allowed on this flight"...... you get the picture!! SO, after lots of frustration on the phone.....Eric finally did it & we booked our ONE - WAY flights to MAUI for 2 Adults & 2 Dogs!!!

So, we leave DECEMBER 15th and will be official Hawaiians by sunset!!!

We love ALL our doggies to death and having ALL of their best interests at heart...the two brother beagles are the lucky ones to sand & surf with us in our next journey.

SO, we will be working on finishing up all their paperwork and applying for our Island Permit and getting them acclimated to being seperated in crates :(

Oh....and incase you're curious as to how much it will cost to get these little furkids out there....here's a breakdown:

Rabies shot $8
Rabies blood work draw/vet charge $180
Airline approved crates $90
One way doggie airline ticket    $250
Vet meet at the airport  $200
Payment to state of Hawaii (not sure why)  $170

That would equal $898 HOWEVER.......times that by TWO
for a grand total of $1,796!!!! Plus, were sure there will be more fees!! But, we love them very much and they are our children.

Aside from the dogs...in order for us to afford it all....Mommy had to apply for her HAWAII Nursing License!!!

I had to send in lots of mail to Hawaii & Illinois and luckily NO TEST was required!! Just $200 to the state of Hawaii to obtain a license to practice there!

I applied back in July and just today (sept 19) I received my letter!!!!
We're beginning to learn that we must have patience when dealing with anything in Maui :)

I jumped up & down like a crazy person!! I can't wait to get my real license -- I hope it has a rainbow and pretty colors on it!!

Needless to say the first half of this month has been making things begin to seem real! All our work is starting to show and pay off.  Now, we just have a very LARGE to do list to work on!

If anyone is interested in moving to Maui let us know...we will make you a checklist!!

I can smell the ocean and feel the sand....it's getting close!

808 in August

THE SLIDESHOW OF what awaits us in Maui...the 808! Scenery and people we love so much we are moving 4,000 miles for:

This month of August - the 8th month of the year -- I HAD been waiting for August 8th because 808 will be our new MAUI area code!!

Sorry for another month delay in updating for those that follow! We have been busy trying to keep busy again.  We went the first 20 days of August without seeing each other again which was hard, but the time flew by thank god!! I kept myself busy with work as always and hanging with some of my BF girlies!! Time well needed and well spent

I enjoyed a nice dinner with our lil doggie Libby, her new brother Jameson and thier Momma & dear friend K-ron.  We took them in the car to eat @ Quigleys because they are so pet friendly there! Libby cried and howled at everyone that didn't stop and say hello to her while we tried feeding her french fries and red peppers to get her to shut up! Needless to say, I enjoyed every second being with her and mister jameson!

Libby & Jameson in the car heading to dinner! They seem to love each other very much which makes me oh so happy <3

I spent a weekend with my BF Holly Beth @ her condo in Four Lakes -- I felt like I was on a mini vacation! We went out for a 20 course dinner @ Meson Sabika (my first real experience at Meson!!) She is an amazing teacher and gets a HUGE discount there so we demolished a TON of food, followed by an amazing cheesecake dish, and cookies with milk!! OH...and a lot of sangria!!

Holly kept me busy...we hung at her pool...

went to the pub...

acted like silly highschool girls again...

BFFL HBGR & KLBG!!

Then Holly let me get lil Libby Lou and bring her over for a "GIRLS night" sleepover!! We ate, watched TV and gossiped!

Libby & I hung at Aunt Holly's house the next day on her patio where I finished another summer read & Libby watched squirrels and smelled all the smells!  Libby loved Four Lakes and the trails they have for walking!

Moo moo & I drove around to run errands to the bank (where she got delicious treats ), the car wash and a stop at the pet store to pick up some treats & a toy for her brother Jameson <3

I worked the next week wishing it was time to see Eric but it wasn't yet :( BUT we skype every SINGLE night where he makes funny hysterical faces at me and I watch the doggies sleep & beg their grandpa for ice cream & sneak licks out of his bowl!!

Me skyping with Payton & Kaiser

I kept myself busy again that next weekend with a wine - sleepover - night @ Kim's place.  I then spent the night at my highschool BF Heidi's where she had a great party filled with fist-pumping dancing, jello-shots @ rummy bears!! We had a blast dancing and acting like jersey shore high schoolers again!

Leslie, Heidi me & Shannon

Heidi was always the best dancer!

Love this girl!! She is the greatest mom & friend

Then, I spent a day in the city with my BF Kim! We drove the mini top down while it rained!! And walked all over the city...to Buckingham PALACE (yes PALACE), ate sushi painted nails by the lake and enjoyed some R&R kat time.  I will definetly miss girlie days :(

Then, I was off to work for 3 whole days & I would finally get to see my hubby after 20 days apart!!! We were headed down for my BrZoZnOwSkI CUZIN family vacation!

I felt like Harry Potter!!! I took the amtrak train all by myself to Quincy, IL where Eric met me at the train station there after he drove from Missouri! I had the biggest smile on my face when I got off the train and saw him!!

We stayed @ this amazing log house in Mt Sterling, IL

It was like our own dude ranch on 1,000 acres!! When we arrived, the owner had made us fresh chocolate cookies & a fresh Keg of beer had been tapped for us! They don't call us BOOZnowski's for nothing!

The house had 2 lakes, 6 bedroom, 6 bathroom, 3 OUTDOOR fireplaces, hot tub, bar, pool table, crazy stereo system, ping pong.....it was awesome!

This was for 10 adults & 7 children for ONE weekend!!

We played fun games after the kids went to bed!

Eric & I lost so we had to drink full beers!

CHEERS TO COUSINS!!

Cousins in the hot tub!

Me & Julie are the lushes!

Shot-gun time!! I got a little late start ;)

The nursery water fit right on in! We had a great weekend!

The cousins babies -- there will still be more to add to this group...someday!

My personal "NOAH" from the notebook! He paddled me all over the lake!

Nice & relaxing day for me ....

I bet he misses spoiling me!

All the cousins except Zak, Sara & Kristin :( We all had matching t-shirts that said "POLISH & PROUD" and we ALL wore them the entire day and night! I think most of us ended up sleeping in them!
I will miss all my cousins so very much :(

Eric & I parted ways that evening - he dropped me at the train & he headed back to Missouri....we had planned not to see eachother for another 20 days :(

BUTTTTTTT...he changed his mind and came in town the next weekend!! Our dear friends that moved to MAUI last year were coming back for a visit!!

It worked out great because not only were they back in town...but our dear friends parents had planned one last Lake Michigan boat trip for all of us.  The Hawk's have taken us out on their boat every year and they wanted to do so for us one last time before we left.  So we spent an amazing day on Lake Michigan with our chosen family (we missed our Iwinski's though)

Me & the Kim's finishin a bottle of Sangria !

Gettin down & dirty with Mrs B!

Chillin

Soakin up some rays!

We got almost every color in the rainbow!

We just need to get these fools out to MAUI too!

Thank you so much Bob & Marge! You have always been so kind and treated us all like your children.  We love & will miss you -- just drive that boat to MAUI and we will see you there!

~our chosen family~

"the best things in life come in threes like friends, dreams, and memories"

On 8/28 Eric & I celebrated the 13th anniversary of our very first date!!! We spent the whole day together -- a day in Geneva we had planned to eat at our fav restaurant -- but it was CLOSED down!! THen we could get no service at restaurants!!! It frustrated us because we were starving so we left and drove to Batavia and ate delicious BLT's with avacado mayo at a yummy Irish outdoor restaurant!

I can't believe we have really been dating for 13 years -- almost half of my life! We did the math and at our 17th year dating anniversary will be half of my lifetime spent with him -- I wish it would have been my whole life -- I love that guy so much
XoXo

So... now it's September and I get to spend this labor day weekend with my girl Libby! Im staying at our friends watching her & mr jameson!

Here we are updating the blog!

I am looking forward to relaxation and peace (wish Eric was gonna be here)
But I will see him next week for 5 days!!
