We call this Summer in Maui....even though everyday is summer to us!

SUMMER time in Maui is H-O-T!!!! We had never vacationed here in the summer months because why leave Chicago in the summer right??!! Well, it gets HOT HOT HOT here!!! So, we got some good sun sheilding drapes, lots of fans & never slept with blankets all summer!! We RARELY tunrned on the air-conditioning because it's electricity and the electric out here is $$$ - but we all survived & enjoyed the same things every day.... beach days, sunset & more exploring & living maui style.  Still adjusting of course. Kandi was loving her new unit in the hosptial, Eric was still enjoying the golf course job & playing more and more golf!! He is definetly improving his swing and has been playing different courses out here for FREE! Lucky guy!! He came from a place where you could golf like 4 months out of the year when he wasn't too busy with work and busy life -- here you can golf EVERYDAY! Sometimes he plays after work or just hits some balls -- I still don't play but I don't mind driving the cart around and being our "beer girl"!! The views from the golf-courses are gorgeous!

Views from Eric's work...he gets to watch sunrise over Haleakala when he opens!

I was enjoying some really relaxing things here on the Island. I started doing beach front yoga on Sunday mornings & began finding my favorite reading spots! I sneak onto lawn chairs and into resorts and read read read && act like a vacationer.  The yoga and reading help to relax my mind!!

                                 Some of my yoga girlies!!!

~THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER IN MAUI~

It was SUMMER and the water was warmer and the pups ventured out into the Pacific!! Granted, we had to carry them in and drop em then they would run back to shore! Then we would put treats in our hands and walk out into the water and they would follow! They don't like swimmin in the deep water (yet) but now they enjoy getting their paws wet!! Little Payton LOVES climibing the black lava rocks and he now tries to walk into the ocean to get to them!

Look at his big ears floating!!

Our lil pudgy Maddux enjoyed the water more than his brother....see Payton back there still debating if the treat was worth the water!

Sunset climbing on the black lava rocks...it's their favorite!

Driving to their favorite beach to run for sunset Ulua/Keawakapu

MY BOYS -- one of our favorite all time sunsets on Keawakapu

The pups get to come walking to breakfast with us where the server gives us extra bacon!

Hanging at the beaches meeting our dog friends for sunset

Payton telling Maddux a secret .... this is the cutest!

Payton hanging with his turtle pal at the pet store where they get their nails cut!

Climbing their favorite black lava!

self portraits HOW ADORABLE!!

After long days and every night they cuddle eachother -- littermates unseperable!

Not only were we making new friends and so were the pups but lil mini was making new friends too! We may not be able to sleep in her like our friends VW bus club,  but she is cute & I think the boys like her ;)

Girls weekend on the West side!!

GIRLS ONLY dinner, bar hopped & stayed at the KBH with a YUM breakfast in the morning!

Friend days of summer....

Kandi's SEEEEEEEEEEEEster & Richard came for a visit!!! We took them ALL over the entire Island (except Haleakala) ... we gave them the Maui tour in Manhattan speed!!

she brought gifts for my birthday!!

We went to the Iao Valley and climbed around the trails and streams.

AND of course a day drive on the Road to Hana!
They saw the bamboo forest, swam under waterfalls, stopped at many scenic places & we all saw our FIRST monk seal!!!

fresh coconut water & coconut candy!!

red sand beach

they're so cute!! they had the best time touring the island, sneaking in to the resorts and beach days!

we took a breakfast and lunch cruise to Molokini Crater for all of our FIRST times snorkeling out there!!

Sis & Richard were doing acrobatics in the water!

We had the best 10 days together!! Sis & I realized that we haven't spent 10 straight days together...JUST US in decades! I didn't want her to go .... and I cried BUCKETS of tears :( It was like having that peice of home that makes you oh so happy and comfortable that you never want to let go of :( BUT ..
A hui hou kakou (until we meet again)

We also celebrated Kandi's FIRST Hawaiian but 31st birthday while seeeeester was still here!
Breakfast at Five Palms, beach day, dinner at Cuatros & Sansei late night!!

It was the best birthday just having Seeeeester with us!

Of course...what is summer without times with friends!

The thing about Maui that is so different from the mainland is that people don't really make plans...which is still an adjustment but its also cool because on any day of the week at anytime people just send out texts and get together :)

Kandi's nursing pal Tim from Chicago came for a visit with his wife, we enjoyed dinners with them and took them on the Road to Hana tour!

We also took a trip to the Bamboo Forest and swam in waterfalls & just acted plain silly hiding in the bamboo!!

I made it up to the top!

 we did some good hiking!

If you don't like sunsets don't look any further...
lastly but not least.....the Sunsets of Summer here in Maui...

(view of sunset from Eric's work)

and a moon set over the west maui mountains

(this is the drive down the street to the ocean from our house... we love driving home :)

Most of thses pics are taken at Kam 3 which is what we call our "backyard" its only a 5 min walk from our house !!

hammock sunsets are our favorite!

The sunsets will NEVER ever get old! We live a 5 min walk to an amazing beach to catch sunsets whenever we are not at work.  The puppies LOVE sunset time....I dont think in our 30 some years of life that we have ever seen so many sunsets in our lives....truely blessed and we know it ever day.

Summer was just as wonderful as you could imagine and we didn't have to worry about enjoying the weather because every day, here 365 days of the year are exactly what it looks like....paradise! We still look around and say to each other...my gosh it just looks fake! AND then we pinch ourselves cause we are really living in friggin paradise!
